Game, Set, Match
A
little shout-out to my boys from Bayview Yacht Club, who sent an all-Anarchist
team to the ISAF Grade 2 Knickerbocker
Cup match racing event on the North Shore of Long Island, NY. Skipper
Chris Van Tol and his crew of John Van Tol, Mike Rehe and Mike Hoey
won this tough event against high-ranked match racers from 8 other countries,
joining past Knickerbocker winners Dave Dellenbaugh, Russell Coutts,
Dave Perry, Paul Cayard, Terry Hutchinson, and Ed Baird. Great job,
guys.
John Van Tol posted the following in the
thread:
"DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!?"
Those were the words of our bowman Mike Hoey, (a/k/a Quint as well as
the king of one-liners), as we neared the finish line leading the Russians
[Arbuzov -ed] in the second race of the finals yesterday. I am still
running on the adrenaline from the race yesterday, and have been all
the way home. It all was a little surreal.
We drove all night and got back home this morning at 6:30. I had to
get my brother (the only one with a real job) back home so he could
go to work at 9 am this morning. I woke up from my nap this afternoon
and saw the thread going. I just wanted to say thanks from our whole
team for the support and kind words you have all given us. We will all
see you at the club tonight to celebrate and give you the full story.
Thanks, and Cheers!
