This is what it used to
look like - a chick's car!

Now, a guy's car

No, SA hasn't turned into a BMW enthusiast page, but every now and then (okay, I mean all the time), I indulge myself. I know some of you will bitch, or call me a homo, or say it's a chick car - whatever. I don't care - I like the car and wanted to show you what it now looks like.

Let's be honest, there aren't many of us that like fast boats who don't also like fast cars. Or at least cool ones. Like a lot of you, I have an enormous preoccupation with boats, girls and cars, (not in that order), and probably always will. What the hell else is there?

When I bought my 3 Series cab last May, it was very stock and I knew I wanted to upgrade it at some point, and I've just completed a series of changes. First was the suspension - I had Black Forest Porsche and BMW here in Dago install an Eibach Pro-Kit suspension, which added stiffer progressive springs and lowered the car to where it's supposed to be. Nothing is more lame than a car that sits too high. I then bought 17" M-3 Contour wheels (71/2" front and 81/2" rear) and put on Michelin Pilot Sport tires (225/40ZR17 front, 245/40ZR17 rear). The thing sticks like glue in corners, handling is much, much better, and it looks like it is supposed to!

I then had Dinan Stage 1 and 2 performance software upgrades and a carbon fiber cold air intake installed. It added approx 18 h.p. and 200 rpm - not a huge increase, but enough to notice. Oh and since this car sounded like a fucking Honda Accord in stock form, the cold air intake adds a very nice growl when you put your foot into it, which I now do with alarming regularity - my average mileage has gone from 24.5 to 22.4!

So that's it. I know - it's just a car, and there are plenty of you with nicer rides than this, but I really the way the car now looks, rides, handles and goes. It's not an M-3, but it's one of the nicer 323ic's you'll see, and I think I've taken it out of chick car realm!

Okay, excuse the indulgence. Now back to sailing.
