Pimp Daddy The Best The best racing magazine on the planet is Seahorse. We've maintained that for years, and it remains as true today as it did 25 years ago when we first started subscribing. If there has ever been a caveat, it was that it was expensive - but no more! Seahorse has come aboard, not only as front page advertisers, but also as the title sponsor of our TJV/VOR forum, and they have an unreal subscription deal for Anarchists only. Click here or their new banner ads and get on it! 12/02/05 |

Pimp Daddy Not Nutty Our newest advertiser, SplicingNut (see banner, upper right) has an interesting new product to share with you. What is a SplicingNut? It is a two part device that screws together (quite easily we hear) to mechanically form a loop in braided line similar to an eye splice. SplicingNut speeds the attachment of hardware onto line shackles, beckets, harness assemblies and unlike knots or splices, it's mechanical nature allows for precision - cut two inches off the bitter end of your eye to eye assembly and your harness is two inches shorter. We've not used them yet, but these things might also be really good for halyards and sheets. Take a look at their website. Yeah, it's not as sexy as a lot of the stuff you see here, but YOU can afford it and it'll make your life easier. Oh yeah, for those who care about such stuff, it is not made in some low-wage country with a tyrannical government, it's made in B.C. Canada where the American Dream lives on. Check 'em out and give them an Anarchist hello. 11/16/05 |
Pimp Daddy 45% Off Our friends at the Sailing Pro Shop are having an incredible Christmas sale, with some great deals, up to 45% off. Don't forget that SPS has been with us for a very long time, have been supportive and contributed to not only getting you all good gear and good prices, but have also shared a ton of info with you in the forums. Support the guys who support us and get some Holiday savings too! 11/15/05 |
Pimp Daddy More Performance We are happy to have Performance Sailing Gear join Sailing Anarchy. They offer a unique approach to retail performance gear for one designs, and here they describe what they are all about: Performance Sailing Gear is an offshoot of the successful Stargear.net website. We have had a lot of sailors asking us to sell them specific gear for other classes than the Star. You can browse the site either by a certain class or by manufacturer. We offer specific items for 12 classes right now and will be adding more classes and more gear for the classes we already list in the future. Our goal is to get you to spend you time on the water not trying to figure out whether a certain line or hardware item is going to work for your specific boat . What we want to avoid is giving you a bunch of choices and you trying to figure out what works and what doesnt. We sail a variety of boats and in classes we dont sail are talking with the top folks getting their input on what works and what doesnt. Some of the features on the site is a Free classifieds section and a free Crew List section where you can list based on a specific area or regatta. To kick off our advertising on Sailing Anarchy Performance Sailing Gear is offering a special on MovStar Ultraneema line. From time to time we hope to offer articles on Sailing Anarchy letting everyone about class specific developments we are seeing and hearing. Thank you! 11/14/05 |

Pimp Daddy Looking Good One of the very coolest things to have is a half model of a favorite boat - maybe your own, one you sailed on, our just one that you've always admired. Given that, we're happy to have Trident Studio on board with us as our newest advertisers here at SA. They bill themselves as The Half Model Company and have got an incredible list of half models to choose from. Hell, your Editor even found the Garret Farr 40 that he used to sail 15 years ago and ordered one! They match hull colors to suit and these things make for stunning Christmas gifts for that deserving skipper, friend or significant other. Check out their banner ad on the upper right column here and see if they have your boat! 10/20/05 |
Pimp Daddy Testify A progress report from the folks at Rocket Boats. Of a number of startup boat builders, these guys are doing a good job selling new their boat. Sure they are advertisers here, and we are glad to help be a part of their success. - Ed. We just got back from the Annapolis Boat Show which was great. Apart from the unbelievably bad weather we had a great time, met a ton of people and even signed a couple of orders. This was icing on the cake as we had just expected to introduce the Rocket to the East Coast, but the reception was incredible and interest levels very high. Since the show the traffic on our website, has jumped by about 30% and weve been getting a lot of follow up e-mail. We will definitely be going back next year. The Rocket looked great with a brand new set of North 3DL sails and a new rig. Were now using a stiffer and slightly larger carbon mast section which allows us to do away with the backstay. This is a huge improvement from both a functional and aesthetic standpoint and the look generated a lot of positive comments. We were also draped in nomination banners for Sailing Worlds Boat of the Year competition and Best Boats 2006 from SAIL magazine. These added a nice touch and raised our profile even further. We ended up staying after the show to run a couple of days of demo sails and also to let the Boat of the Year judges take the Rocket out for a sail. The conditions were perfect and we brought a lot of smiling faces back to the dock. After we left Annapolis we drove up to Raritan Bay New Jersey to deliver the boat to its new owner. Before we launched the Rocket 22 project in 2004 we did a ton of market research and it is paying off in spades. We identified two key markets, both of which have been responding very favorably. The first group is the 35-40 and older market that wants a high performance racer/day sailor that is easy to manage but still provides the thrill of performance sailing they remember from earlier boats. Were doing really well here and have sold boats to individuals ranging from 36 to 75 years old. The other group is the yacht clubs and sailing associations that need a replacement training boat for the younger sailor who is moving up in the sport. Were also getting a lot of interest here as we meet many of their criteria such as both spinnaker set ups, very manageable, huge cockpit, ramp launchable and highly stable. Youll be glad to hear there was a large and supportive Sailing Anarchy community at the Annapolis show. Thanks to your site they have been following the Rocket since the beginning and it was great to talk to them all and show them the boat. Weve been in contact with many of them by e-mail and it was great to meet them all personally. If you have any advertisers sitting on the fence, tell them from Rocket Boats that it is worth every penny! Thanks again, Anthony

Big Pimpin' Down Mexico Way The very first long distance race that your infamous Editor ever did was the 1975 Puerto Vallarta race. And while we did win the thing overall, it was memorable for a lot more than just the win. A combo of a thousand ocean racing miles, ending up in sunny Mexico in the dead of winter, and those frosty adult beverages, make for one nice winter getaway... We tell you this because we are pleased to have SDYC on board with us to promote their upcoming race to Puerto Vallarta, starting Feb. 21, 2006. This one will be the 26th biennial race, and if a bitchin' slide south isn't enough, the Mexorc follows this race, offering some good buoy racing in some great conditions. Boats including Magnitude 80 (Doug Baker), Mongoose, SC 70 (Dennis Conner), and the 62' Medicine Man - (Bob Lane) have signed up. How about you? Please see their banner, upper 10/17/05 |

Pimpin' RBS specializes in the production of epoxy E-glass and epoxy carbon fiber battens to bring the end user a reliable product constructed using the highest quality material available, improving the performance of your sail. In
production, RBS uses a proprietary epoxy resin matrix in an
unique roll form process using E-glass or carbon fibers that
are immersed in our flexible epoxy resin matrix that passes
through a series of rollers optimizing the glass to resin content
to achieve the highest strength to weight ratio. The laminate
then passes through their computer controlled curing tunnel
for a very consistent curing process. After being sized, the
battens are individually tapered to fit your sail on their
custom design CNC machine to match the sail designer's requirements. |

Big Pimpin' Viddy Up We're pleased that Sportzboats have re-upped with us as advertisers and they have the following info to share with you: You can now see the video of the Australian production of the "Duncanson Sports 8" by clicking on the above link. (The vid is good but the music is god awful - you might want to turn your speakers down! - Ed). Hull number #8 is now sold to a group of guys in the Atlanta area. From a marketing stand point Sportzboats USA has decided to approach the US market for the DS-8 in a couple of different ways. Production boats and a two part DS-8 kit version. Production will continue in Australia on the DS-8 and DS-10. The builders in Phuket will continue to handle the overload. We are also actively seeking a few builders in the USA to express interest in building locally from kits, no special tooling required. We are particularly interested in the Florida area boat builders for all year round support. For the avid home builders we intend offering a complete 2 part kit produced in Australia. The first kit includes the hull and deck components and materials required. The hull will include the DS-8 frame and 3 partially molded pieces to minimize the build effort, the second kit will include all the completed carbon parts rudder, keel, boom and rig. This way you can space out the cost to build over a period of time. Hull serial numbers and boat certification will be handled in Australia and the USA. A video/CD will be supplied outlining the build process. This is not like buying plans from a designer and starting from scratch as we supply all materials and component necessary to complete. The kits are modular in nature and hard to deviate from, so modification to the original design will not be a factor as all major components are all ready finished. These kits are primarily focused at the individual that wants to complete all his own finish work and save some money. The US boat builders will support these efforts as part of an ongoing arrangement for the builder to resell the kits. Using this method its possible to own a completed DS-8 under US $35K. The production fully finished DS-8 retails at USA $55,000.00. This is a very competitive sailing yacht inline speed wise with the Mumm 30's it should not be compared with the Melges 24 at $48K, if anything it should be considered a faster replacement with a cabin. Interested buyers and boat builders should contact Sportzboats USA direct at 401-885-7785." or email: richard@sportzboats.com. 5/11/05 |

NEW!
JUST RELEASED! The protest room is the wrong place to learn the racing rules, especially when the easiest and most pain-free method is the 2005-2008 edition of the animated UK Sailmakers Real Time Racing Rules Quiz CD. Along with the new rules, the CD is packed with new quizzes, sound effects, exciting video clips, all the appendices, the appeals, and a protest form you can fill out when needed. After reading the situation, play the animated movie illustration the question. In each movie window there are play, pause and rewind buttons. Viewers can pause and resume as many times as is necessary. You will not see any lines on the screen to show overlaps or the two-boat length zone because you don’t see those aids on the water. After you analyze the situation you can read the “Facts Found” followed by the “Conclusions and Rules That Apply”. In the answers, each rule is hot linked so that you can call up the rule mentioned with a click of the mouse. The animations can be enlarged to full screen for easy viewing, or you can choose to view the animation along with the answer to the quiz and the text of any rule you have a question about – all on the same screen, no page flipping. Truly the easiest way to learn the rules. The cost is $45, or $25 for those who are upgrading from a previous version of the CD. Order online at www.uksailmakers.com 3/18/05 |
