39 Production Cruiser Racer - Details Now Unveiled
From the same stable as the overall Top boats of the 2006 Rolex Commodores Cup, Cowes Week and Cork Week, Ker Yachting presents its new high-tech 39 production cruiser-racer, to be built by CMI in Thailand, experts in high-tech production construction.
The Ker39 is designed for the owner who wants the highest level of competitiveness in an IRC yacht matched with the ability to cruise in comfort and style, at a highly competitive price and excellent build quality, delivering many years of sailing pleasure and solid long-term resale value.
The base specification of the Ker39 will exceed owners expectations of a production yacht. A rare step in the pursuit of overall performance for a cruiser-racer, the Hull and Deck and all other primary structures are constructed using a wet-impregnated Epoxy/Glass/PVC foam sandwich cured under vacuum and post-cured. The rig package is all carbon utilising a twin swept back spreader arrangement for performance, stability and control. The rudder stock, blade and quadrant, twin steering pedestals and wheels are also built of carbon.
The design represents the fourth generation of IRC Cruiser Racer from Ker Associates and while drawing from the experience gained by the racing of the previous generations, this design represents more than a just a refinement of the present concepts which have been tank-tested at 1/3rd scale. Extensive CFD research during 2006 using Americas Cup technology has led us to advance this design significantly, leading to an even faster, more competitive and easily handled yacht. Keel and Rudder areas are generously sized to ensure that the excellent upwind performance will be easily achieved.
Interior design is by Design Unlimited, who having designed the interiors for the extremely successful Ker designs Fair-Dos and Flying Glove as well as other production designs, have proved their mastery of the art of balancing style and low weight with practical function. Carefully selected veneers, colours, fabrics, wood trims and interior fittings will ensure that the yacht is a pleasure to own and to be aboard while cruising.
On deck the cockpit and anchor lockers provide for practical cruising stowage and a life-raft locker under the cockpit sole allows for practical safety and accommodates the hydraulic backstay adjustment ram. The cockpit sole and seats are laid with teak and, and as has been standard on most of the recent Ker designs halyards and control systems lead under deck, giving the yacht an ergonomically and aesthetically clean and uncluttered look.
The Ker39 base price is €239,950 price (ex. Sails, Electronics, Delivery and Tax). Considering the options to be available in the marketplace from 2007, Ker Yachting is very confident that the Ker39 with its outstanding competitive performance and superior specifications will deliver great satisfaction to owners looking for a new yacht in this size range.
