Recently arrived in St Martin is the latest Gunboat launch, the silver Gunboat 62 ‘ICON’. Her platform is an even higher tech development of her predecessor sisterships. Nearly a ton was dropped from the structure in order to fit an architect designed interior with every imaginable comfort. The owner asked for an interior that would feel like a Manhattan loft with clean modern lines. The dark wenge and walnut cabinetry and floors almost make one forget that this is a carbon sailing machine meant for sailing purists.

Comforts include entertainment systems at each berth, a 42” retractable LCD screen in the salon, and an impressive sound system. The galley is enough to make a chef smile, and the ice-maker keeps cocktails cool all night.

The owner’s hull features a King Bed, and a ‘wet-room’ with dual showers just forward of its own companionway.

Propelling this lavish comfort is a refined all carbon rig with a slightly larger mast section than earlier Gunboat 62’s. Sails are the latest 3DL Carbon.

In summary, this Gunboat has most of the luxuries of a mega-yacht, yet will sail circles around any boat out there with comparable comforts. This is a stunning boat.
