Good to GO
A
while back we ran a picture of the GOS16 built by GO-Yachts.
Web Dawg sent off a few questions and didn't hear back, figured
that they didn't want the Anarchy curse. But he prodded and they
abliged. The GOS16 is a sit down boat, with all controls leading
to you.. This type of boat is especially easy to sail for us disabled
sailors. But In an open event where the able and disabled can sail
against one another everyone still has to sit. So things are on
a much more equal basis, Ask the ED, he crewed for me in the 2003
San Diego NOOD, and it was a blast. The GOS16 is a lot like the
Martin 16,
a Don Martin (Martin 242) design. Both boats are 16ft, are sailed
sitting down, cannot tip over and can be sailed by either able or
disabled sailors.- Dawg.

Tell us about the GOS 16.

Martin 16 |
The
GOS16 is an “open” boat. It´s shape reminds you
of a small America´s Cup boat, and it has been designed following
the latest trends. We are very enthusiastic with the results, people
just love it, no matter if they are disabled or not.
We
want to put boats in sailing schools, clubs, marinas etc., where
disable people can sail fully integrated.
We don’t want to put any barrier to the GOS16 since it is
a boat suitable for any age, weight or condition.
I insist, it must remain as an open boat, to be a successful boat
It can be sold as a class boat and as a school boat since it is
unsinkable, it can’t capsize, and it has a wheel in the place
of a tiller that makes it easier to sail.

Are you interested in
getting the GOS 16 in the Paralympics or is it just to get disabled
people sailing.
GOYachts
Dear
friend,
Everybody has their own dream, but the Paralimpics is not the most
important thing now, that is the decision of the IFDS
(International Federation of Disabled Sailors) not ours.
What we can do, is promoting events for disable persons, help them
to sail in our boat etc., (we are doing it already). The GOS16 is
a wonderful and lovely boat, it will help many disable persons,
get closer to the sailing world and that´s enough.
Of course it would be a dream, getting the GOS16 in the Paralimpics,
I´m sure that it show that it could be paralimpic class.

The Martin 16 has been
out for several years. Are you guys going head to head with them?
GOYachts
Martin
16 is a great boat, we met Steve Alvey at The Amsterdam Conference
where we was with a GOS16,
and both boats are different. It is true that Martin 16 is older
and much more adapted that our GOS16, but a little bit of fresh
air is always welcome.
We
have designed as smart boat and as simple a boat as can be, it should
allow people from any country access to sailing. We are not thinking
just in developed countries so we tried to fit the minimum requirements
for sailing in the nicest shape of boat.
Our boat is absolutely easy to sail, you can make it as complex
as you want but, at the moment that is not our idea.

Tell us about GO Yachts,
are their other boats(projects) in the works.
GOYachts
Our
shipyard starts with our participation in the construction of the
first Spanish “Americas Cup”, and afterwards the second.
We also build the WOR 60 Galicia Pescanova and two different sailing
boats designed by Vrolijk, a 42 ft. and a 37 ft. boats. One of the
37ft. the “Cittá di Jesolo” built by us, was
World Champion last year in Cappri. Since the start of GO-Yachts,
we have build about 54 different models, from 5 to 27 meters long.
At
this moment, we are preparing the construction of moulds and three
units for a 31 ft. sailing trimaran and studying the construction
of a 42 “one off” trimaran. We are also finishing the
moulds for a 26 racing monohull and of course continuing to show
our GOS16 everywhere. (Now, we are at the “Schroders London
Boat Show”)
